matter - made of place

as the name suggests the ceramic vessels that are part of the ‘matter’ collections have materials within them that have been gathered from the nomadic journeys and experiences that I take my inspiration from.

each piece is individually made using throwing or slab building techniques, some of the materials themselves go through processes of cleaning and grinding before being added to the clay.

these pieces are unique capturing elements of time and place, some of the materials are of limited quantities, and therefore so are the pieces made, giving the piece a precious quality.

every piece of ceramic is individually crafted by hand, thrown on the potters wheel. these pieces are one-off art forms and as such are not suitable for use with food, though the piece is water proof on the interior, so could be used as a vase. the piece should be cleaned by hand with warm water and a mild detergent only.

commissions would be considered to get the ball rolling please email with your ideas for further discussion.
